    Yvonne Vissing is an internationally respected leader in human rights, social justice, democracy, and child well-being. She is a sociologist, Equitas-trained human rights leader, and former National Institute of Mental Health Postdoctoral Research Fellow. She serves on the Human Rights Council of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, is U.S. Policy Chair for Hope for Children—the Cyprus-based Convention on the Rights of the Child Policy Center—and is a member of the Scientific Committee for the Universities Network for Children in Armed Conflict, based in Italy. Dr. Vissing has published more than 33 books, along with numerous peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and professional presentations. She is the founder of the nonprofit organization The Initiative for Civility in Everyday Life, which houses The World As It Could Be program. An award-winning teacher and scholar, Dr. Vissing is the founding director of the Center for Childhood & Youth Studies and co-founder of the Department of Healthcare Studies at Salem State University in Massachusetts, USA. She is a supporter of Global Forum for Teacher Education and is happy to help colleagues around the world.
