Theoni Spathi, MSc, is a criminologist and Senior Research Associate at the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH), Information Technologies Institute (ITI). She holds bachelor's degrees in Business Economics and Finance and in Law, as well as Master's degrees in Crime Science and in Forensic Science and Criminal Justice. Since 2018, she has contributed to numerous European research projects in the fields of crime prevention, border and external security, migration, and counter-terrorism, serving both as a researcher and project manager. Her research focuses on cybercrime, online criminal behaviour, crime prevention and detection techniques, and the legal and ethical assessment of emerging technologies, including GDPR and EU AI Act compliance. She has chaired and presented at several national and European criminology conferences and has published research on cybercriminology.
