Stavroula Kofina, PhD, holds a Doctorate in Social Policy, an MSc in European Social Policy, and degrees from University Departments of Social Work and Social & Educational Policy. She currently serves as Head of the Department of Monitoring and Evaluation of Accommodation Shelters for Unaccompanied Minors, within the General Secretariat for Vulnerable Citizens and Institutional Protection of the Greek Ministry of Migration and Asylum. With 32 years of dedicated experience in child protection, Dr. Kofina spent most of her career as a frontline social worker, the last 15 years leading social services departments. Today, her responsibilities as Head of Monitoring and Evaluation Department focus on child protection and child safeguarding within shelters for unaccompanied minors. In this role, she champions participatory evaluation methodologies that actively incorporate both staff insights and the direct voices of hosted minors. Dr. Kofina specializes in preventing child poverty and social exclusion, focusing heavily on the meaningful inclusion of children's perspectives. She is the author of the monograph Child Poverty and Social Exclusion of Children, a pioneering book in Greece introducing child-centered research highlighting children's perspectives on poverty and social exclusion. Her work on social exclusion, participatory research, and social and environmental justice is widely published in peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes.
