Páll Ólafsson is a social worker and Director of the Department of Prosperity and Child Protection at the National Agency for Children and Families in Iceland. He has worked for many years in child protection, family services, and social welfare and has been closely involved in the development and implementation of Iceland’s Act on the Integration of Services in the Interest of Children’s Prosperity, commonly known as the Prosperity Act. His work focuses on strengthening prevention, early intervention, and integrated services for children and families, ensuring that children receive the right support at the right time. His department works closely with municipalities, schools, health services, and social services to support the implementation of child-centred and coordinated approaches across Iceland. Páll is committed to promoting children’s participation and ensuring that the best interests of the child guide both policy and practice.
