Michael Lolis is an officer of the Hellenic Police with extensive experience in combating hate crimes and defending human rights. He has many years of operational and managerial experience within the Greek Police, having served for five years in Security Departments in central Athens, one year in a Motorcycle Traffic Police unit and two years on the Staff of the Hellenic Police Headquarters; since 2016, he has served in the Attica Department for Combating Racist Violence, where he has been Commander for the past four years. He is a graduate of the Greek Police Constable and Officer Training Schools and holds a Master’s degree (MSc) in Sociology, specialising in Human Rights, as well as Bachelor’s degrees (BA) in Public Administration and in Political Science and History. At the same time, he is actively involved in promoting inclusion and professional training at national and European level, having represented the Hellenic Police on the National Council against Racism and Intolerance for three years. As a certified expert and trainer for the Council of Europe on the policing of hate crimes, he delivers training courses and participates in conferences for police officers across Europe, whilst also serving as a lecturer at the Police Academy, training the next generation of officers in human rights and the policing of vulnerable social groups.
