Loudovikos Van-Heurck is a Mechanical Engineer and graduate of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where he studied Industrial Management and Management Information Systems and earned an M.Eng. degree. He has been a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE-TCG) since 1995. Throughout his career, he has held engineering and technical roles across the maritime, construction, research, defence, housing and intellectual property sectors. His professional experience includes work with NAFSI Shipyard S.A. on tanker Bow Loading Systems, the civil engineering office Vagianos-Kelemenis-Kokkinopoulos on electromechanical installations, air-conditioning and fire-safety systems, and Strintzis Lines and Blue Star Ferries as a Microsoft Office instructor. He also worked at TEKSON – Research and Technology S.A. in the Research and Development Department, contributing to the evaluation of defence systems in collaboration with Hellenic Defense Systems S.A. (EAS). As part of this work, he participated in the evaluation of the production line of Bulova Technologies L.L.C. in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA. He later worked with the Workers’ Housing Organisation (OEK), where he was responsible for electromechanical installations, air-conditioning and fire-safety systems. Since 2007, he has served at the Hellenic Industrial Property Organisation (OBI) as a Mechanical Engineer and Patent Examiner. He has participated extensively in lectures, seminars, online courses, webinars and workshops organised by the European Patent Office (EPO), and since 2018 has played an active role in the training of newly appointed patent examiners. In 2020, he served as a member of the Hellenic Invention Awards Committee under the auspices of the Ministry of Development and Investment. He currently serves as Head of the Information Technology & Communications Department (TEPE) at the Hellenic Industrial Property Organisation (OBI) and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Industrial Property Academy (HIPA).
