    Laura Schaller works as a Clinical Psychologist at the Forensic Examination Center for Children and Adolescents (FOKUS), Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, at Vienna General Hospital / Medical University of Vienna. FOKUS is a specialised interdisciplinary service supporting regional hospital-based child protection teams across Vienna. Laura Schallers clinical work focuses on the assessment of suspected child maltreatment and neglect in children and adolescents. Following training in child protection (German Society for Child Protection in Medicine; DGKiM) and trauma therapy (tf-CBT and CCT), she has specialized in the clinical psychological assessment of children and adolescents in cases of suspected child maltreatment. Her clinical and research interests focus on child maltreatment and child protection in healthcare settings. She frequently provides lectures and training on child protection, with particular emphasis in communication and interviewing techniques with children and adolescents, primarily for healthcare professionals. Since 2025, she has been involved in the conceptual, scientific, and content development of the project “PROTECT: Professional Response and Observation Training in Virtual Reality for Recognizing Child Abuse and Neglect”.
