Elli Kriona-Saranti is a lawyer at the Supreme Court of Greece and holds an LLM with Distinction in Public International Law from University College London (UCL). She is currently the Managing Attorney of HIAS Greece, an international NGO that provides free legal and MHPSS services to asylum seekers and refugees in Lesvos and Athens. HIAS’ legal work in Greece focuses on representation in asylum procedures, as well as strategic litigation on human rights violations, state crimes, hate crimes, criminalization of migration and human rights defenders, and the accountability of EU institutions. Elli has worked in the field of international law for more than 14 years, having held positions in Europe as well as in Rwanda and Jordan, and she is also a licensed lawyer in Ecuador.
