Andrea Varrella is the Head of Justice and Child Rights at ECPAT International, based in Bangkok. Since joining the organisation in 2016, following a role with the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute, she has led multi-country research projects and provided legal expertise to ECPAT and its global network of civil society partners working to end the sexual exploitation of children. Her work spans leading qualitative and participatory research - including engagement with survivors - online surveys, and legal analysis across diverse regions and thematic areas. Andrea leads the development and implementation of ECPAT’s strategy on justice, legal reform, and child rights monitoring, using evidence to advocate for closing legal and policy gaps to strengthen prevention and protection responses. She holds an LL.M in International and European Law and a Master’s degree in International Human Rights Protection.
