Joyce Mutiso is a child protection practitioner with over 15 years’ experience working in various countries as well at the global level. She holds an LLM in International Human Rights Law, with a focus and passionate interest in child rights. She has worked as a human rights officer and child protection specialist, focusing on situations of children in armed conflict in Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, South Sudan, Sudan and Uganda. She has also worked as an inter-agency coordinator for child protection within the IASC-mandated cluster coordination mechanisms in various countries. She currently serves as the Child Protection Lead in the Global Protection Cluster; in this role, Joyce leads the coordination of child protection efforts in humanitarian settings in order to ensure children in emergencies are protected from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and violence. Joyce is based in UNICEF, Office of Emergency Programmes, Geneva.
