Professor Charis Asimopoulos is Professor of Social Work in Mental Health at the Department of Social Work, University of West Attica, Greece, and Vice President of the Board of the Society for Regional Development and Mental Health (EPAPSY). He previously served as Head of the Department of Social Work (2018–2022) and Director of the Master's Programme in Clinical Social Work and Community Work (2015–2021). Before entering academia, he worked for many years as a clinical social worker at the University Child Psychiatry Clinic of Agia Sofia Children's Hospital in Athens, where he was responsible for the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Unit for Adolescents with Mental Health Disorders. Since 1990, he has played an active role in Greece's psychiatric reform process, contributing to deinstitutionalisation initiatives and the development of community-based mental health and psychosocial rehabilitation services. His work has focused on child and adolescent mental health, community care, disability inclusion, social integration of vulnerable populations, foster care, youth participation, and the prevention of school bullying and violence. He has served as scientific coordinator and researcher in numerous national and European projects, including initiatives on youth participation, professional foster care, mental health promotion, violence prevention, and child protection. He is also a member of the Scientific Committee for the Development of Protocols on School Violence and Bullying of the Greek Ministry of Education.His academic and research work has been widely published in Greek and international scientific journals and books.
